Paul Girard was born into great vineyards, but not into a domaine. In 2018, after finishing his studies in viticulture and enology and at just 23 years old, he returned home to Les Mesnil-sur-Oger. In two Grand Cru villages at the heart of the Côte des Blancs, where his father’s vines hail from Mesnil and his mother’s from Oger, Paul has started stitching together his family’s holdings into something entirely his own.
“Mon Village” means my village—a name that feels both personal and precise for this Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs from Paul Girard. Sourced entirely from the chalky slopes of Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, it’s a wine that reflects not just where Paul comes from, but how he works: with care, restraint, and deep attention to detail.
The chardonnay blend is 70% from the 2021 vintage and 30% reserve wines from 2018–2020, aged on lees for three years before being disgorged with a delicate (2g/L) dosage. Tension and texture are perfectly calibrated here, giving way to a palate that’s supple yet exacting, finishing long and bright with a flicker of flint and sea spray. There’s richness, but what shines through is balance with clarity and cut.
This is Mesnil through Paul Girard’s lens: vibrant, mineral, and alive. A wine that’s already showing beautifully and will evolve with even greater dimension over time.
