From very old vines, perched 1200 meters above the valley floors (the highest vineyards in all of Europe some say), Ermes Pavese crafts wines of energy and place. The history of the prie grape is one of the oldest in Italy if not the world, these vineyards are so isolated that they were never affected by the scourge of phylloxera.

Ermes started making his own wines in 1999 from just a few acres of vines. While he has grown the holdings to closer to 15 acres now, production remains under 2000 cases annually. This is the classic wine of the house. A perfect expression of such a unique terroir.
