When two wine luminaries and lifelong Burgundy lovers come together with a single vision, we pay attention. And we get excited. Perron de Mypont is an inspired new chapter in Burgundy written by two longtime friends with a shared passion for place and possibility. In 2019, Ernst Loosen, best known for his benchmark Mosel Rieslings, acquired part of the historic Vieux Château de Puligny-Montrachet and teamed up with Burgundy native Manoël Bouchet to breathe new life into this 16th-century estate.
Together, they’ve built a micro-négociant focused on thoughtful, terroir-driven expressions of chardonnay and pinot noir from across the Côte d’Or. Their Edition wines are produced in close collaboration with growers, often aged in the growers’ own cellars to preserve each site’s distinctive voice.
Some sites need little introduction. Les Suchots, nestled between Romanée-Saint-Vivant and Echézeaux, is one of Vosne-Romanée’s most celebrated premier crus. This vineyard has long been prized for its ability to balance finesse with depth, aromatic lift with structural weight.
Perron de Mypont’s 2023 release captures that harmony with both restraint and precision. Fermented with native yeasts and aged on lees in large-format barrels, the wine was made without bâtonnage and with minimal new oak to preserve the clarity of fruit and the fine detail of the site.
Only 300 bottles were produced, making this the kind of wine that will undoubtedly disappear quickly, not just because of how little exists, but because of how fully it expresses the character of the place. Silken, perfumed, and layered, it opens gradually and beautifully in the glass, but will also, undoubtedly reward patience in the cellar. This is a perfect reminder of why Vosne-Romanée continues to inspire a devoted reverence.
This inaugural release is being offered first to Yes Society members before Perron de Mypont’s wines reach national distribution later this year.
