2023 La Pierre Ronde, Chambolle-Musigny, Burgundy, FR

We come together around the idea of saying “yes”: A small word that contains everything.

Antoine Lepetit de la Bigne has long been one of Burgundy’s most quietly influential forces. A viticultural savant with a deep command of biodynamics, he has guided some of the region’s most iconic domaines toward thriving, living vineyards. For eight years, he worked hand-in-glove with Anne-Claude Leflaive, cofounding the École Du Vin et des Terroirs—a sacred little classroom in the Côte d’Or where growers came to deepen their understanding of soil, root, sky, and vine. From plant bio-indicators to sensitive crystallization, no subject was too esoteric when it came to unlocking the truths held in the land.

After Anne-Claude’s death in 2015, Antoine stepped away from Leflaive and quietly began consulting with a small circle of like-minded growers. One thing led to another, as it does when curiosity meets opportunity—and before long, Antoine began sourcing fruit to make wines of his own. The results? Unmistakable. Bright with energy, rigorous in structure, and pulsing with the clarity of someone who has spent a lifetime listening closely to the earth. These are wines that feel like answers to questions you didn’t know you had.

The Chambolle-Musigny comes from pinot noir vines planted in 2003 in the vineyard Les Athées on clay and limestone soils. The grapes are hand harvested before fermenting 20% whole-cluster with pumpovers and punchdowns. The wine ages for 12 months in 33% new barrels. It is blended and aged an additional 2 months in tank. Minimal sulfur is added throughout the process when necessary. This is high-toned with bright red fruit and the gorgeous bouquets of flowers that Chambolle-Musigny is renowned for.
