Domaine Éric Boigelot is a fourth-generation estate tending some of the Côte de Beaune’s finest terroir since 1918. The family’s roots are in Monthélie; over the decades, they expanded into Meursault, Volnay, and Pommard, moving the cellars to the heart of Meursault in 1998. They are next-door neighbors to Coche-Dury, to whom they have long supplied fruit. Charles Boigelot, who took over winemaking in 2022, spent two years training with Raphaël Coche before returning to the family estate.
Les Petits Charrons sits on the plain near the village of Meursault, where clay, marl, and red, iron-rich soils recall the more celebrated Rougeots vineyard just upslope. The fruit is hand-harvested and fermented on indigenous yeasts in French oak, with twelve months sur lie in barrel followed by time in tank and a light filtration.
Golden and inviting on the nose, with notes of pear and almond and a whisper of brioche. On the palate, white peach and citrus peel give way to a saline, almost flinty minerality that lingers through the finish. Charming in its plushness, intriguing in its precision.
