2023 Eric Boigelot, Bourgogne Aligote, Les Durots, Burgundy, France

We come together around the idea of saying “yes”: A small word that contains everything.

The Boigelot family has been growing grapes in the Côte de Beaune since 1918, when Éric’s great-grandfather first planted vines on a small plot in Monthélie, the village just up the hill from Meursault. Four generations later, the domaine sits at 21 rue des Forges in the center of Meursault, next door to Coche-Dury.

That proximity is not incidental. The Boigelots have long supplied a portion of their fruit to the Coche family, and both Éric and his son Charles trained there. Charles spent two years working with Raphaël Coche before returning home. He took over winemaking at the domaine in 2022 at twenty years old, and the attention has come quickly. William Kelley of The Wine Advocate called the domaine “very much an address to watch.”

This aligoté comes from Les Durots, a parcel on the plain below Meursault where some of the vines approach a century old. Hand-harvested and fermented on indigenous yeasts, it sees time in both barrel and tank before a light filtration. In the glass, a honeyed floral quality, with notes of acacia and chamomile. On the palate, grapefruit pith and a vein of wet limestone carry through the middle, bright and persistent.
