Now firmly in the hands of the 4th Generation, Domaine Guiberteau has some of the best land on the impressive hill of Brézé. When 3rd generation Robert retired, none of his children were ready to take over the project so the holdings were farmed out and the grapes sold to local cooperatives.

Current winemaker Romain Guiberteau came back the mid 1990’s and made the decision to take back family control of the cellar—mentored in his early vintages by the Loire icon Clos Rougeard’s Nady Foucault Romain—converted all vineyards to organic farming, and quickly became a darling of the French restaurant scene.

This is classic Saumur cabernet franc here. Blended from three parcels on Brézé planted in the mid 1950s on sandy, silty soils. All destemmed fruit that ages for a year in a combination of older oak and stainless steel.

This wine is expected to be available to ship by mid November.
