2022 Terroir al Limit, Arbossar, Priorat, Spain - PRE ARRIVAL

We come together around the idea of saying “yes”: A small word that contains everything.

95pts Wine Advocate

Terroir al Límit is one of the most compelling projects to emerge from Priorat in the past two decades. Founded in 2001 by Dominik Huber, a German-born wine lover with a background in gastronomy and marketing, and South African winemaker Eben Sadie, the estate helped pioneer a gentler, more transparent vision for the region. From the beginning, the focus has been on farming by hand, following organic and biodynamic principles, and crafting wines that speak clearly of where they come from. In the cellar, whole-cluster fermentation, ambient yeasts, and aging in concrete or neutral foudres replace extraction and oak. Today, the wines are guided by Tatjana Peceric, whose thoughtful, intuitive style brings even more clarity and finesse to each cuvée.

The core range is built around individual crus, created by Dominik Huber himself, with each bottling offering a vivid glimpse of its specific site. These are wines of lift and texture, shaped by infusion rather than force, and grounded in the red slate and mica of Priorat’s llicorella soils. Native varieties like garnacha and carinyena provide energy and aromatic lift, while the Terroir Historic line broadens the lens, blending fruit from old-vine parcels across the region in a style that recalls the soulful, unhurried wines of Priorat’s past. With each vintage, Terroir al Límit continues to expand the possibilities of this dramatic landscape, offering a rare combination of elegance and authenticity anchored in vision and ambition. Yes Society is proud to serve as the exclusive U.S. source for these remarkable wines.

Arbossar is the vineyard where Dominik Huber’s vision for Terroir al Límit first took shape. Discovered while riding his motorbike through the hills near Torroja, the steep, north-facing site defied Priorat convention. Planted to 90-year-old carinyena on a mix of schist and granite, it offered a different kind of power, one shaped by freshness, lift, and floral nuance rather than sheer force.

Fermented entirely with whole clusters and native yeast, then aged for 16 months in concrete, the 2022 vintage is vivid and finely tuned. Aromas of red berries, violets, and crushed stone rise from the glass, followed by a palate that unfolds slowly, like a hillside warming to morning light. The tannins are fine and deliberate, guiding the wine along a mineral seam that lingers with inner vitality. Arbossar continues to show why it has become one of the benchmark expressions of carinyena in Priorat. It speaks with intensity, but not too loudly, delivering complexity, poise, and a sense of wild and vibrant landscape in liquid form.
