When two wine luminaries and lifelong Burgundy lovers come together with a single vision, we pay attention. And we get excited. Perron de Mypont is an inspired new chapter in Burgundy written by two longtime friends with a shared passion for place and possibility. In 2019, Ernst Loosen, best known for his benchmark Mosel Rieslings, acquired part of the historic Vieux Château de Puligny-Montrachet and teamed up with Burgundy native Manoël Bouchet to breathe new life into this 16th-century estate.
Together, they’ve built a micro-négociant focused on thoughtful, terroir-driven expressions of chardonnay and pinot noir from across the Côte d’Or. Their Edition wines are produced in close collaboration with growers, often aged in the growers’ own cellars to preserve each site’s distinctive voice.
The village of Vougeot is best known for the storied walls of Clos de Vougeot, but just beyond them lie a handful of premier cru sites that often fly under the radar. This 2022 bottling from Perron de Mypont offers a rare look at one of those neighboring parcels, where the same limestone-rich soils yield wines with structure, depth, and undeniable elegance.
Fermented with native yeasts and aged on lees in large-format barrels, this is pinot noir built from the ground up. The fruit is vivid and fine, framed by savory undertones and firm yet polished tannins. There’s a subtle floral edge that lifts the darker tones, and a mineral finish that lingers without insistence. There’s a lovely stillness to this wine that holds its power close and allows each layer to unfold seamlessly, making each sip a joyous evolution in the glass.
This inaugural release is being offered first to Yes Society members before Perron de Mypont’s wines reach national distribution later this year.
