2022 Famille Ogereau, Vent de Spilite, Anjou Blanc, Loire Valley, France

We come together around the idea of saying “yes”: A small word that contains everything.

A wonderfully exciting project that demonstrates the intersection of family history and youthful innovation. While the vines of the Ogereau family were planted in the late 1800’s, it was three generations until the domaine started bottling their own wine. Emmanuel, the fourth generation, is now making the wines and is bringing his own style to the project. Organic and biondynamic techniques in the vineyard, no botrytis on the dry wines, slow pressing, and a focus on micro, terroir-driven bottlings are amongst the changes young Emmanuel has brought to his family’s winery.

This bottling celebrates the unique terroir of parcels grown on Spilite derived soils, a unique type that while not altogether rare in Anjou, has been rarely isolated on its own. This wine consists of a blend of older and younger vines planted between the mid-1950s all the way through to the mid-2010s. A wide variety of vessels are used in this wine’s year of aging; small barrels, large barrels, amphora…before being blended together and aged for additional six months in tank.

This wine is expected to be available to ship by mid November.
