2022 Domaine des Croix, Corton Les Grèves, Grand Cru

We come together around the idea of saying “yes”: A small word that contains everything.

At Domaine des Croix, David Croix has quietly become one of Burgundy’s most compelling voices, a winemaker whose evolution mirrors that of his vines. Early on, David’s wines were, by his own admission, “darker and tighter,” shaped by youth and ambition. But as the years have passed and the domaine’s vines have matured, so too has his style. The wines today are brighter, more expressive, and more accessible in their youth—a reflection not only of David’s own growth but of the natural balance he has cultivated in his vineyards.

Founded in 2005, Domaine des Croix is a relatively young estate by Burgundian standards, yet David has approached his work with the patience and humility of someone deeply attuned to his land. The conversion to organic farming in 2008 marked a turning point, and the rewards are now undeniable. The wines have gained a new structural complexity—an energy and tension that feel effortless and deeply rooted in place. David often says it’s not him shaping the wines anymore but the vines themselves, a quiet acknowledgment of the symbiotic relationship between grower and land.

The 2022 vintage at Domaine des Croix reflects a perfect alignment of maturity and conditions. The growing season, marked by warmth and steady ripening, resulted in wines with ripe fruit, lifted aromatics, and a clarity that speaks to both David’s touch and the balance of his vineyards. The wines hum with brightness and precision. The fruit feels alive, underpinned by fine tannins and a mineral edge that ensures freshness and longevity.

In the glass, the 2022s are approachable and joyful without sacrificing the depth or structure that Burgundy lovers seek. These are wines that showcase David Croix’s evolution as a winemaker and the subtle brilliance of his approach: wines that are both serious and fun to drink, shaped not by force but by listening to what the vineyards have to say.
