What started in 1963 as a project to showcase Alberto Zuccardi’s innovative irrigation system has evolved over the course of three generations into one of Argentina’s most visionary estates. Zuccardi marks the first Argentine wine brand to earn three 100-point scores from Robert Parker and our first Argentine wine offering.
Director of winemaking Sebastián Zuccardi joined the family business in 2002, and immediately looked to the Uco Valley—high-altitude vineyards at the foot of the Andes, where alluvial soils rich in calcium carbonate combine with extreme diurnal temperature shifts to produce wine of rare intensity and elegance.
This Malbec, planted on stony soil at 1100 meters, was both fermented and aged in concrete with native yeasts. Lush, three-dimensional notes of wild berries, violet, and star anise, with a chalky, saline finish showcasing supple tannin. Robert Parker’s Wine Advocate gave it 99 points, calling it “commanding, complex, and ceaselessly evolving.” Vinous, more simply, called it “just fabulous.” We agree. Drink anytime until 2045.
