2021 Terroir al Limit, Les Manyes, Priorat, Spain - PRE ARRIVAL

We come together around the idea of saying “yes”: A small word that contains everything.

Terroir al Límit is one of the most compelling projects to emerge from Priorat in the past two decades. Founded in 2001 by Dominik Huber, a German-born wine lover with a background in gastronomy and marketing, and South African winemaker Eben Sadie, the estate helped pioneer a gentler, more transparent vision for the region. From the beginning, the focus has been on farming by hand, following organic and biodynamic principles, and crafting wines that speak clearly of where they come from. In the cellar, whole-cluster fermentation, ambient yeasts, and aging in concrete or neutral foudres replace extraction and oak. Today, the wines are guided by Tatjana Peceric, whose thoughtful, intuitive style brings even more clarity and finesse to each cuvée.

The core range is built around individual crus, created by Dominik Huber himself, with each bottling offering a vivid glimpse of its specific site. These are wines of lift and texture, shaped by infusion rather than force, and grounded in the red slate and mica of Priorat’s llicorella soils. Native varieties like garnacha and carinyena provide energy and aromatic lift, while the Terroir Historic line broadens the lens, blending fruit from old-vine parcels across the region in a style that recalls the soulful, unhurried wines of Priorat’s past. With each vintage, Terroir al Límit continues to expand the possibilities of this dramatic landscape, offering a rare combination of elegance and authenticity anchored in vision and ambition. Yes Society is proud to serve as the exclusive U.S. source for these remarkable wines.

High in the Montsant mountains above Scala Dei, at 800 meters elevation, lies a vineyard like no other. Les Manyes is carved into clay and chalk, west-facing and wind-washed, far removed from the slate and sunbaked valleys more commonly associated with Priorat. This is where garnatxa peluda, the fine-haired cousin of grenache, thrives. Its downy leaves conserve moisture in the summer heat, and its berries ripen slowly, yielding fruit with lower sugars, brighter acidity, and remarkable finesse.

Fermented whole cluster with native yeasts and aged for eight months in concrete, Les Manyes is a study in paradox: powerful yet lifted, rooted yet ethereal. Black cherry, rose petal, smoke, and wild mountain herbs swirl together with clarity and purpose. There is a fine, silken bitterness, like the cool breath of dawn over warm earth, that shapes the wine’s structure and lingers long after the last sip. Les Manyes has not just become one of Spain’s most iconic reds, it remains singular in its unmistakable origin and uncompromising elegance.

"I’m not sure Garnacha gets much better than this… A stunning, moving wine that deserves every applause it receives" - Fintan Kerr of Tim Atkin Report about the 2021 vintage

“An epiphany here with its wild, tangy nose full of white pepper, mezcal, blood oranges, forest floor and dried herbs. Really broad and precise, with a chunk of fine, mealy tannins that knit seamlessly on the palate. Nice bitterness at the end to seal it up before an extremely long, nervy finish. Pure garnacha peluda from Les Manyes vineyard. It goes on and on. 3,506 bottles. Irresistibly attractive now, but can hold.” - 99 points, Zekun Shuai, jamessuckling.com
