Azienda Agricola Paolo Bea sits in the hills around Montefalco, where the Bea family has lived and farmed since the 1500s. Santa Chiara is the estate’s golden, full-throated field blend, sourced from parcels in the Pagliaro vineyard where gravel and clay alternate at 1,300 feet above sea level. Equal parts grechetto, malvasia, sauvignon, garganega, and chardonnay are fermented together, spending several weeks on their lees before resting a full year in stainless steel. Bottled without sulfur and untouched by fining or filtration, the wine carries a distinctive purity in each bottle.

2021 Santa Chiara is expressive and openhearted, offering layers of ripe orchard fruit, orange peel, dried herbs, wildflower honey, and a mineral edge shaped by the hillside soils. Its texture is supple and giving, with enough structure to frame the richer tones without overwhelming them. Santa Chiara captures the warmth and complexity of Umbrian hillsides in a single glass, and is a wine that offers immediate enjoyment upon release and continues to reward those who may opt to cellar a few bottles.
