Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux is the estate: a historic 14.5-hectare domaine stewarded today by Charles Lachaux, whose quiet revolution in the vineyard has transformed the family’s already respected holdings into some of the most sought-after wines in Burgundy. With regenerative farming, vertical pressing, and whole-cluster fermentations, Charles has elevated these wines into a new class.
Tucked just below La Tâche and Les Malconsorts, Les Chaumes is a premier cru with grand cru pedigree—especially in the hands of Charles Lachaux. Under his pioneering vineyard practices at Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux—zero hedging, regenerative farming, ultra-dense plantings—Les Chaumes has become a striking case study in just how expressive this site can be when farmed without compromise.
Lachaux’s 0.74-hectare parcel spans from the top of the slope to the foot of the vineyard, giving him a rare cross-section of this celebrated terroir. The 35–40-year-old vines are fermented with 100% whole clusters, aged gently in mostly used oak, and finished in tank for clarity and precision. The 2021 is perfumed and poised—peony, plum skin, wild cherry, confit orange peel—with a supple, seamless texture and a mineral edge that tightens on the finish.
Only around 4,000 bottles are made each year, and demand has soared as Lachaux’s vision continues to reshape the conversation around Vosne-Romanée. This is a premier cru that often tastes like more—and from a grower whose every move is worth watching.
