2021 Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux, Les Rouges, Echezeaux, Grancd Cru, France - PRE ARRIVAL

We come together around the idea of saying “yes”: A small word that contains everything.

Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux and Domaine Charles Lachaux

Same hands. Different intent.

At a glance, these two labels bear the same last name, the same cellar, and the same guiding mind. But look closer and you’ll find two distinct worlds—one rooted in legacy, the other in personal conviction.

Domaine Arnoux-Lachaux is the estate: a historic 14.5-hectare domaine stewarded today by Charles Lachaux, whose quiet revolution in the vineyard has transformed the family’s already respected holdings into some of the most sought-after wines in Burgundy. With regenerative farming, vertical pressing, and whole-cluster fermentations, Charles has elevated these wines into a new class.

Few sites in Burgundy reward precision like Échezeaux, and few growers approach precision with the daring and depth of Charles Lachaux. His 0.9-hectare parcel in Les Rouges du Bas—a prized section of Échezeaux just above Vosne-Romanée’s Les Beaux Monts—sits on oxidized, iron-rich soils with barely any topsoil before limestone bedrock. This is Échezeaux with tension, nerve, and soaring aromatics.

Farmed biodynamically and vinified with 100% whole clusters, the 2021 “Les Rouges” is one of the most haunting wines in the Arnoux-Lachaux cellar. Intensely red-fruited and laced with florals, it shows layers of rose petal, blood orange, pomegranate, and warm stone. Aged in 30% new oak for 14 months and finished in tank, it’s perfumed, lifted, and long—a wine to smell for hours before the first sip.

Labeled with its specific lieu-dit since 2018, this cuvée underscores why Échezeaux—and Flagey-Echézeaux more broadlyis often spiritually aligned with Vosne. In Charles’s hands, “Les Rouges” doesn’t just express the site; it elevates it to something essential.
