2020 Zuccardi, Tito, Uco Valley, AR

We come together around the idea of saying “yes”: A small word that contains everything.

What started in 1963 as a project to showcase Alberto Zuccardi’s innovative irrigation system has evolved over the course of three generations into one of Argentina’s most visionary estates. Zuccardi marks the first Argentine wine brand to earn three 100-point scores from Robert Parker and our first Argentine wine offering.

Director of winemaking Sebastián Zuccardi joined the family business in 2002, and immediately looked to the Uco Valley—high-altitude vineyards at the foot of the Andes, where alluvial soils rich in calcium carbonate combine with extreme diurnal temperature shifts to produce wine of rare intensity and elegance.

Named for family patriarch Alberto 'Tito' Zuccardi who founded the winery in 1963, this blend of Malbec and Cabernet Franc honors his indefatigable spirit. “Behind a calm and smiling exterior,” says Sebastián, “Tito was alive with the conviction that nothing was impossible for him.” Co-fermented in concrete with native yeasts, the wine was aged partially in concrete and partially in untoasted 500-liter French oak barrels. Decanter, who gave this 97 points, called this “very serious, but at the same time cheerful and delicious!” Notes of black raspberry, plum, and licorice on the nose, with fine grained tannins throughout the long finish. Simply wonderful.
