“One of the top wines in the vintage…It's one of those wines that brings richness and intensity yet with elegance and finesse.” - 96 pts Jeb Dunnuck
Established in 1974 by Pierre and Mireille Giraud, this domaine is deeply rooted in generations of tradition. Pierre, a sixth-generation winegrower, and Mireille leverage their extensive heritage to craft wines of remarkable finesse and complexity. Today, managed by their children, Marie and François, the domaine has expanded impressively from its original 4 hectares to nearly 30 hectares.
All vineyards are farmed organically, with meticulous sorting to ensure only the finest fruit reaches the cellar—an old distillery that has been part of Mireille’s family heritage. This careful and precise approach is clearly reflected in the wines: simultaneously rich and fresh, they beautifully express Southern Rhône Grenache blends at their finest.
Named in honor of Pierre, who is now mostly retired, Les Grenaches de Pierre comes from 100-year-old vines of grenache planted on sandy soils in the lieux-dits of Pignan, Mourre de Gaud and Charbonnières. The grapes are hand harvested and ferment and age entirely in concrete to preserve the vibrancy and freshness of these distinctive terroirs. The wine has bushelfuls of black cherries, cassis, white truffles, pine needles and underbrush, with a lovely incense of dried wildflowers.
