2019 Roses de Jeanne / Cédric Bouchard, La Haie de Brune, Coteaux Champenois, Champagne, France

We come together around the idea of saying “yes”: A small word that contains everything.

One of our guiding principles for collecting wine has always been: find the people who are doing the best work, and follow what they create. Cédric Bouchard has been a staple of our cellar since the first vintage we tasted. There have been rumors about a still wine, a Pinot Noir, that he had been working on. And now it is finally here…a few treasured bottles to share.

True to form, it is a miniscule project. Planted in 2014, Bouchard’s 1.4-hectare parcel of massale selection pinot noir has yielded La Haie de Brune, a wine aged in François Frères barrels selected by his friend Bertrand Dugat. In his characteristic minimalist style, Cédric has allowed this wine to speak with clarity and restraint.

This is a rare glimpse of Bouchard’s hand outside of Champagne. We count ourselves lucky to receive a generous, albeit tiny, allocation.
