Elise Bougy is one of the new generation of Champagne vignerons—passionate to press against the prevailing dictums of Champagne in search of new ways to make vibrant, expressive wines. She has 3 hectares of 1er cru and grand cru holdings spread between Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs and she farms these organically and biodynamically, and bottles the plots separately, seeking to understand the different terroir expressions of her vineyards. The greatest care is taken in the cycle of farming to harvest to vinification and the wines show this with singular particularity.

This cuvée comes from the 1er cru Le Monts-Chainqueux parcel. It is a blanc de noir of pinot noir and pinot meunier. The vineyard lies at the foot of the Montagne de Reims, surrounded by chalky plains and ancient limestone valleys and hills. The vines were planted in 1965 and lie in a terroir of chalk topped with silt, sand, and a clay-filled loam with south-easterly exposure. 

The wine is like a stone in the center of a field of white flowers. Like light passing through the thinnest slice of apricot. The smell of moss. It swirls with energy and verve.
