From one of the most quietly radical (and also beautifully tradition-bound?) estates in Bordeaux, Marie-Élisa is Château Le Puy’s near-mythical dessert wine. For more than 400 years, the Amoreau family has worked this high-altitude plateau—the second highest in the Gironde, perched on the same limestone shelf as Saint-Émilion and Pomerol—with an unwavering commitment to purity. They farm biodynamically, eschew additives and new oak, and craft wines that are resolutely unmanipulated. In a region known for polish and power, Le Puy stands defiantly apart. 

Marie-Élisa is made from 100% botrytized sémillon, hand-harvested in successive passes. After gentle pressing, the juice is left to ferment and age in oak barrels for as long as needed, which looks like two years in some vintages, seven in others. The 2019 was bottled after four years, without filtration or sulfur. 

This is a wine of deep resonance: layers of golden fruit, honeycomb, citrus peel, and spice, anchored by a precise acid spine and long, chalky finish. It’s sublime with cheese or after a meal...and built to age for generations. 

This is one of the rarest wines in Bordeaux, and a rare opportunity for our members to claim a bottle.  Only 24 bottles made it to the U.S. and they’re only available in the Yes Society marketplace.
