Frédéric Savart signed with Stade de Reims as a teenager and chose the family’s four hectares in Écueil over a soccer career. Since taking over in 2005 he has turned a small Montagne de Reims grower into one of the reference names for pinot noir in the Montagne de Reims. Les Gillis is a single parcel of pinot noir in the village, and the 2018 was fermented in two barrels coopered from oak cut in the Écueil forest, aged four years, and disgorged in January 2025 with no dosage. Antonio Galloni gave it 95 points and called it “super-impressive.” Festive enough to open first thing and weighty enough to pair with the richest food on the table. And, in magnum, there’s even more to go around.
