2000 Domaine Simon Bize, Latricières-Chambertin, Grand Cru, Burgundy, France

We come together around the idea of saying “yes”: A small word that contains everything.

From one of Burgundy’s most revered under-the-radar domaines comes this exceptional Grand Cru from the storied Latricières-Chambertin. The Bize family has quietly tended their vines in Savigny-lès-Beaune for generations, producing wines of profound integrity and restraint. While their name may not command the flash of more commercially hyped estates, insiders know Domaine Simon Bize et Fils as a standard-bearer for terroir transparency and classical style.

This 0.32-hectare plot, nestled directly beside Chambertin itself, was planted in 1961, 1971, and 1981. Its shallow marl and limestone soils yield fruit of intensity and poise. Grapes are harvested from both the upper and lower portions of the slope, lending layered complexity to the finished wine. In its youth, Latricières is famously reserved, but time rewards the patient. Now, with over two decades in bottle, the 2000 vintage is showing its remarkable balance between structure and finesse. Silken yet ample, it delivers savory, spice-tinged red fruit and a mineral core that echoes long after each sip.

This is Grand Cru Burgundy in its most soulful and brilliantly understated form, built for those who value quiet power and longevity.
