NV Pertois-Lebrun, L'Ambitieuse, Grand Cru, Champagne, France

We come together around the idea of saying “yes”: A small word that contains everything.

Pertois-Lebrun is a small, family-run estate in Cramant, now in the hands of brothers Clément and Antoine, who represent the fifth generation to work their family’s grand cru vineyards in the Côte des Blancs. Their focus has always been chardonnay, and their philosophy centers on treating each parcel with patience, care, and a real respect for its individuality. Working across some of the region’s most iconic villages, they farm with a distinct and personal touch and a clear intention: to let the terroir of grand cru chalk come through in every wine.

L’Ambitieuse is their most expressive statement of that idea. It comes from chardonnay in Chouilly and Le Mesnil-sur-Oger and blends one harvest with a reserve wine that has been building in character since 2013. The wine begins in both steel and old barrels, where it takes on subtle shape and texture, then spends years resting in the cellar before release. Time is an essential ingredient here. It softens the edges, deepens the aromas, and draws the wine into a place where purity and richness can coexist with ease.

In the glass, L’Ambitieuse feels bright and generous, offering citrus, chalk, ripe orchard fruit, and the gentle pastry notes that come with extended aging. It has both lift and tenderness, finishing with a saline line that gives it poise. It is a Champagne that welcomes being opened now, especially for those who love the combination of finesse and depth, yet it carries enough structure and concentration to reward patience for anyone building a cellar filled with memorable Blanc de Blancs.
