One of the great joys of Burgundy’s rising tide of attention is seeing long-overlooked regions shine again. In the mid-1800s, Fixin was considered every bit as worthy as Gevrey, and Amélie Berthaut is restoring that reputation. Her family has worked these vineyards since the late 1700s, but it’s Amélie’s tenure, alongside her father since 2014, that has brought new energy and elegance to the wines. Combining the vineyards of both her parents, she now works with her fiancé, Nicolas Faure (himself a star in Burgundy) who manages the family’s farming.

From a tiny half-acre parcel of vines on shallow clay and limestone, this site often gets a bit more whole cluster than the rest of the Fixin sites and often less new oak.
