One of the great joys of Burgundy’s rising tide of attention is seeing long-overlooked regions shine again. In the mid-1800s, Fixin was considered every bit as worthy as Gevrey, and Amélie Berthaut is restoring that reputation. Her family has worked these vineyards since the late 1700s, but it’s Amélie’s tenure, alongside her father since 2014, that has brought new energy and elegance to the wines. Combining the vineyards of both her parents, she now works with her fiancé, Nicolas Faure (himself a star in Burgundy) who manages the family’s farming.

Vines on this vineyard range from 2005 all the way back to the 1930s. Planted on limestone and marl soils, this site receives a bit of whole cluster and a touch of new oak. The wine is often crafted similarly to Les Crais but delivers its own personality.
