2020 Domaine Prieuré-Roch, Nuits-Saint-Georges, Clos des Corvées, Vieilles Vignes, 1er Cru, Burgundy, France

We come together around the idea of saying “yes”: A small word that contains everything.

When Henry-Frédéric Roch established Domaine Prieuré Roch in 1988, he brought with him the exacting standards of DRC and a philosophy he describes not as "making" wine but as managing a natural process—listening to and stewarding the vines through the seasons. The result is a collection of wines so vibrant and refined that they've become emblematic of what's possible when tradition and minimal intervention are practiced with vision and humility.

Clos des Corvées is a 5.21-hectare monopole in Premeaux-Prissey at the southern end of Nuits-Saint-Georges, one of the Côte's largest single-ownership vineyards. From this historic site, Prieuré-Roch produces multiple cuvées—the Vieilles Vignes comes from old vines, while a separate bottling is made from the tiny, concentrated millerandé berries.

This is southern Nuits-Saint-Georges at its most graceful. The Vieilles Vignes bottling offers remarkable drinking now, with aromas of Rugosa rose, mountain herbs, and wild strawberry, but will evolve beautifully over 15-20 years, developing the petrichor, truffle, and leather notes that come with age while retaining its elegance.
