2023 Weingut Schregel, Rüdesheim Berg Roseneck, Trocken, Rheingau, Germany - PRE ARRIVAL

We come together around the idea of saying “yes”: A small word that contains everything.

In the storied vineyards of the Rheingau, Alexander Schregel is forging his own path—one that honors tradition while boldly defying it. Raised in the vines and trained at Geisenheim, he cut his teeth managing 130 hectares at Josef Leitz before staking his claim on just 1.5 hectares in Rüdesheim’s most revered sites. He farms organically and biodynamically, harvesting by hand and letting each vintage speak for itself. In the cellar, he rejects rigid German winemaking conventions, allowing spontaneous fermentations, embracing natural fluctuations, and foregoing fining and filtration. The result? Rieslings and spätburgunders that pulse with energy, texture, and purity.

This is the crown jewel of Schregel’s Rüdesheim holdings: an old-vine parcel perched on the southeast-facing slopes of the Berg Roseneck, where quartzite soils lend unmistakable precision and drive. Everything here is done by hand, from biodynamic farming to whole-cluster pressing, ambient fermentation, and aging on the lees without fining or filtration.

The result is a riesling of serious presence and clarity with wild mountain herbs, yellow apple, lemon zest, and the fine-boned minerality that marks the best of the Rheingau. Tension and texture in equal measure. Though officially labeled as “Landwein” due to its unfiltered nature, this is Rüdesheim through and through. Just 950 bottles made.
