German-born Bastian Wolber is a citizen of the world, especially on the winemaking front. Laisse Tomber, meaning “let it fall,” refers both to Bastian’s easy-going attitude and the origin story of his label. While working harvest with Jean-Francois Ganevat in 2019, Bastian broke his hand in a skateboarding accident. Initially a massive heartbreak, the setback catalyzed a wildly successful negociant-style project made with grapes grown by his friends in Alsace, Baden, and the Haute Savoie. But, he remains compelled by Burgundy, where he now lives, working with Jean-Yves Bizot and farming a 1.3 hectare plot himself.
