94pts James Suckling
Terroir al Límit is one of the most compelling projects to emerge from Priorat in the past two decades. Founded in 2001 by Dominik Huber and South African winemaker Eben Sadie, the estate helped pioneer a gentler, more transparent vision for the region. From the beginning, the focus has been on farming by hand, following organic and biodynamic principles, and crafting wines that speak clearly of where they come from. In the cellar, whole-cluster fermentation, ambient yeasts, and aging in concrete or neutral foudres replace extraction and oak. Today, the wines are guided by Tatjana Peceric, whose thoughtful, intuitive style brings even more clarity and finesse to each cuvée.
The range has since expanded to include Terroir Sense Fronteres, a sister project across the DO border in Montsant. Here, Dominik and Tatjana explore the enormous potential of this overlooked region through old-vine garnacha grown high in the Montsant mountains. These wines are harvested early, fermented whole cluster, and aged entirely without oak to preserve freshness and finesse. Whether in Montsant or Priorat, the throughline is clear: a commitment to expression over intervention, and a belief that Mediterranean wines can be as graceful and terroir-driven as any in the world. Yes Society is proud to serve as the exclusive U.S. retailer for these wines.
The Terroir Sense Fronteres Negre is Montsant in its purest, most vibrant form. Sourced from organically farmed vineyards on sandy clay soils in the valley below the Montsant mountains, this 100% garnatxa is fermented whole cluster with native yeasts, aged entirely in stainless steel, and bottled without adornment. It is a wine that favors transparency over technique, made to honor the land more than the winemaker’s hand.
The fruit leads with wild red berries, blackberry, and mountain herbs. Silky and lifted on the palate, it carries equal parts brightness and depth, with notes of spice, licorice root, and a long, mineral finish. There is no oak here, just clarity and quiet confidence. For all its elegance, this wine is built on rugged terrain and Mediterranean sun, and it shows. Easy to drink, impossible to ignore, and a pitch-perfect introduction to the magic of Montsant.
