Stazzo Lu Ciaccaru is a restored agriturismo in Gallura, Northern Sardinia, born from Geraldina Giovannoni’s desire to honor her maternal roots. Today, her son Nico carries the vision forward with the estate’s first wines, grown among wild Mediterranean scrub and granite hills.
The 2023 Vermentino marks a bright beginning: a debut built on precision, care, and the luminous character of Sardinia’s windswept north. Vermentino thrives in this corner of the island, where granite soils and salty Mediterranean breezes lend the variety a more mineral, structured edge than its coastal cousins in Liguria or Tuscany. Fermented at cool temperatures in stainless steel and bottled under screw cap to preserve its clarity, this wine is a pure, sunlit expression. Briny and fresh, with notes of citrus blossom, crushed herbs, and sea spray, it tastes like sunlight on stone and wind in the trees. Vivid, salty, and alive.
There’s a clean, mineral tension that reflects the island’s rugged landscape, but also a softness that makes it dangerously easy to drink. This wine is just the beginning for a place built on restoration and meaning, and it’s an auspicious one that we’ll be opening on repeat.
