Elise Bougy is one of the new generation of Champagne vignerons—passionate to press against the prevailing dictums of Champagne in search of new ways to make vibrant, expressive wines. She has 3 hectares of 1er cru and grand cru holdings spread between Montagne de Reims and the Côte des Blancs and she farms these organically and biodynamically, and bottles the plots separately, seeking to understand the different terroir expressions of her vineyards. The greatest care is taken in the cycle of farming to harvest to vinification and the wines show this with singular particularity.

The Le Mont Chainquex comes from co-planted pinot noir and pinot meunier, planted by Bougy's granparents in the mid-sixties. These old vines give rise to something concentrated and aromatic skimming gorgeous structure, a vintage silk curtain hung in Palladian windows, framing a view of wild red cassis.
