2020 Etienne Bodet, Clos Durandiere, Saumur, Loire Valley, France

We come together around the idea of saying “yes”: A small word that contains everything.

Etienne Bodet grew up among the vines in Saumur. He studied oenology at Reims then interned with Sylvain Pataille in Marsannay, and with Guiberteau, Bernard Baudry, and the great Clos Rougeard in the Loire. He was gifted 1.4 hectares of cabernet franc in "Clos Durandière" as a wedding present and he tends the vines with the utmost care, seeking a Saumur of precision and elegance that is made to age and evolve. The farming is completely organic and biodynamic. Fermentation is carried through slowly in used oak and maturation is carried out in used oak barrels as well.

2020 Etienne Bodet, Clos Durandiere, Saumur, Loire Valley, France comes from a vineyard of clay and limestone. This shows classic and complex Saumur characteristics. Deep red cherries, wet hot stone, watermelon rind, mint, black pepper, and iron. So ethereal. A wine of power and finesse at once! We love good cab franc.
