Caroline Lestimé has quietly shaped Domaine Jean-Noël Gagnard into one of Burgundy’s most admired white wine estates. Since taking the reins from her father in 1989, she has introduced organic certification, biodynamic farming, and a signature style defined by precision and restraint. Her wines lean toward elegance over opulence, with a clarity and mineral expression that set them apart from the broader, more muscular style often associated with Chassagne.
La Boudriotte is a southeast-facing Premier Cru nestled within the historic Morgeot appellation, from which it was once blended. Since 2002, the domaine has vinified the lieu-dit on its own, bringing deserved attention to this quietly powerful parcel. The vines sit at 240 meters on compact, shallow clay soils that lend both concentration and detail to the wine.
Under the hand of Caroline, La Boudriotte opens with generous yet composed aromas of ripe stone fruits and white flowers. Fermented with native yeasts in barrel and aged for 18 months on the lees (one-third new oak), it carries a silken texture and precise structure. The palate is both expansive and taut, balancing stone fruit richness with a line of cool, clay-driven minerality that lingers through the finish. Only about 300 cases are produced each year of this benchmark Premier Cru. Structured, refined, and age-worthy, with a deep sense of place, a quietly confident hand behind it can’t help but shine through each bottle.
